The Red Carpet Facial

I’ve always been a huge fan of beauty treatments but being a busy working mum I’ve completely neglected my skin. With Winter around the corner my skin needed some SOS. I always like to try new innovative treatments in the industry. I always go for non-surgical, non invasive treatments as my skin is super sensitive.

I am a huge fan of the AlumierMD products, so I decided to try the DermaPlaning combined with AlumierMD Enzymatic Peel and deep hydration mask.

The first step was to cleanse and tone my skin to take off any make up and dead skin to prepare it for the treatment. A 10 gauge medical scalpel is carefully used to remove 30 days of built up dead skin cells, known as the Lucidium layer. By using it at a 45 degree angle, it removes dull skin cells along with the vellus hairs (tiny facial hair). This allows products and treatments to penetrate deeper into the skin which improves the skin cell turnover, giving a smooth, clearer completion.

DermaPlaning is recommended for all skin types except those with acneic skin. If you have deep cystic acne, wait until breakouts are clear before trying this treatment. This is a great treatment if you are pregnant or nursing and want exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the blood stream and potentially harming your baby. The sensation of this treatment feels no different than shaving your legs, in fact it slightly tickles!

The DermaPlaning was the perfect pre-treatment for my AlumierMD facial peel. With my skin being dark, extreme facial peels can cause hyper-pigmentation, so I had the lightest peel available. This started off a light enzyme and detox peel which helps clear pollution build up in the skin. The detox peel works directly into the epidermis stimulating skin cells and allowing the skin to rehydrate and give it a radiant glow. As my skin was excessively dehydrated I also had a hydration mask over the peel to give me the best results.

The treatment was 45 minutes and cost £75 per session. It was so relaxing which with my schedule over the past few weeks was a real treat! A moisturising balm is then applied to the skin to soak in overnight or as long as you can to get the best results. I woke up the next day feeling fresh and my skin felt tightened yet supple.

I have all my treatments at the Nicola Jay Academy in Cheadle. Not only are the treatments there perfect for my skin type and needs, but the staff are super friendly, welcoming and most importantly I leave the salon feeling rejuvenated.
