Every Valentine’s weekend the Mister always takes me away for a city break. In previous years we have been to Dublin, Rome, Milan and last year we visited the Ice Hotel in Kiruna when he proposed in a stunning little ice church. Read all about my Scandinavian proposal in my previous blog.
This year we were invited to the Berlin Film Festival by the co-founder Benjamin Eicher, a very close friend, a true international playboy, with the biggest heart and a beautiful soul. When we arrived in Berlin after a speedy hour and forty five minute flight, we checked into our hotel and did some sightseeing around the historical city of Berlin.
After a beautiful walk and a few coffee shops later, it was time to get ready for our first night of parties which was held at our hotel, The Sofitel Gendarmenmarkt. Tonight was a pre-warm up so we took it easy with a civilised dinner with Benjamin and his friends who also own the German film company, Lausbuben. I wore a stunning gold dress by The Gold Boutique, paired with gold Louboutins and a Jimmy Choo clutch bag.
After dinner, civilised got turned up and we headed to The Pearl nightclub. We danced until 3am with our party-going friends, climbed into bed with a Mc Donalds (standard!) and slipped into a deep sleepy coma. The next day was time to refuel, recharge and rehydrate ready for round two. We headed to Vapiano for lunch and The Sushi Club for an early dinner before I headed up to hair and make up in the penthouse suite which was a fabulous gift from Benjamin.
By 8pm I was ready to walk the red carpet in my apple red dress from The Dollshouse Boutique and head to the big event. There were so many weird and wonderful characters and the party was pumping. Everyone from celebrities in film, media and reality TV to the rich and famous were welcomed to a catwalk of paparrazzi ready to publish their pitctures in the Sunday papers. We were so well looked after from the minute we arrived it was hard not to fall in love with Berlin and the crazy creatives that the Berlin Film Festival has on their guest list.
After a well deserved and fun weekend in this amazing city, it was time to head home to our boys, hang up my Louboutin’s and get back into mum mode! It was a privilege to be invited and a privilege to see so many beautiful people, buildings, culture and history. Berlin we will be back next year!
